Featured as one of Paul Davis’ “20 Women of 2020”, Cindy Gessert is the Business Development Manager for Paul Davis of Omaha, NE.
When did you start working for Paul Davis?
I started with Paul Davis of Omaha in November 2003. 17 years ago!
What were you doing before that?
I was working for an internet incentives company before joining Paul Davis.
How did you get the job—or what interested you in going for it?
The company I was working for merged with another and closed the Omaha office, which prompted me to look for another job. When I found the listing for Paul Davis, it sparked my interest in a company that provides such a unique service to those in need. I really had no idea that a company such as Paul Davis even existed since I had never experienced property damage in my own home. While being given a tour of the facility, I noticed a large plastic tote of little green plastic army men that was set aside for hand cleaning after a fire. I was in shock that this company takes the time to clean such small and intricate toys for return to its owner. I realized then that this was a great company to work for and this was a position for me!
Give us 2-3 paragraphs of your duties and what a day of doing each one of those would look like.
My daily duties are as fluid as anyone in the company! A typical week starts by looking at the calendar and planning around the events that are scheduled that week. These events may include a Continuing Education class for insurance agents, breakfast or lunch presentations, agency office visits, association and/or board meetings, golf outings and trade shows to name a few. We are very fortunate in the Omaha office to have a long-standing reputation as best in the business! My job is to capitalize on every customer and event we come into contact with, maximizing our time spent on relationship building. Our business has been built on relationships in Omaha for over 30 years.
Family info and how it relates to your job and daily life (if you want).
I am a single Mom with four kids: one in college, one in high school, and twins in middle school. Our schedules are extremely busy, so this job has allowed the flexibility to be available to my family as needed. The bonus is driving a company car to all the sporting and school events which always helps to get our name out there even more. It’s a great conversation starter!
Where do you see yourself in 5 years?
I don’t plan to retire so I’d love to keep doing what I do. My customers have become some of my best friends, so the best part of my job is seeing them every week!
